School-Wide Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (SW-PBIS) Team Training (COHORT 1, Day 3)

19 July 2017

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive framework of evidence-based strategies and systems that assist schools in creating environments that are predictable, consistent, positive and safe. Benefits include improving academic performance and safety, decreasing office referrals, and establishing a positive school culture for students and staff.

The State Support Team (SST) Region 11 is offering this three-day professional development training for the 2017-18 school year. This training will assist NEW building-based teams in establishing a common purpose and approach to discipline; identifying and teaching school-wide expectations; developing a continuum of procedures for encouraging expected behaviors and discouraging inappropriate behaviors; and developing an on-going behavioral monitoring and evaluation system.

Interested building teams must have principal representation, an assigned internal facilitator, a school climate (or similar) goal/strategy in their Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP), and actively participate in training and follow-up technical assistance activities. Optimal team size is 4-6 members.
