Supporting Literacy Development for ALL Children

This session will enhance and support teacher practice in the area of literacy for students of all ages with significant disabilities and limited language skills. Topics to be addressed include strategies and resources that support literacy instruction, creating engaging opportunities for children to explore and understand text, designing age respectful learning opportunities and strategies for assessment for instructional planning as well as progress monitoring of literacy skills. Low and high tech supports and resources for literacy will be presented.

The presenter, Dr. Caroline Musselwhite is an SLP and assistive technology specialist with more than 30 years of experience working with children and adolescents with significant disabilities. She has presented thousands of workshops throughout the world, and is a founding member of the Board of Directors for the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC).
