Ohio’s Learning Standards
The State Board of Education adopted Ohio’s Learning Standards in English Language Arts as a guide to teaching and learning in the classroom. The Kindergarten – Grade 12 standards have been fully in use in Ohio classrooms since the start of the 2014-2015 school year.
The Ohio Academic Content Standards – Extended (OACS-E) also are commonly known as “the extended standards.” These standards help to ensure that students with significant cognitive disabilities are provided with multiple ways to learn and demonstrate knowledge. At the same time, the extended standards are designed to maintain the rigor and high expectations of Ohio’s Learning Standards.
On October 9, 2012, the State Board of Education adopted Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards in all domains of school readiness to reflect the comprehensive development of children beginning at birth to kindergarten entry.
