Surrogate Parent Training

Description:
A Surrogate Parent is an individual who is appointed by the school district of residence or a court to represent a student with a disability (1) whose parent cannot be identified or located, (2) who is a ward of the state, or (3) who is an unaccompanied homeless youth.
Surrogate Parents assist in all matters relating to the identification, evaluation, and educational placement of the child and the provision of FAPE. Individuals must complete a 5-hour training and be appointed by the district to serve in this capacity.
