Free Safety Assessment and Intervention Trainings

Free Safety Assessment and Intervention Trainings

The Ohio Department of Education is partnering with Sandy Hook Promise to provide Safety Assessment and Intervention, one of the Sandy Hook Promise’s proven Know the Signs programs, at no cost to districts and schools in the 2020-2021 school year. Due to the COVID–19 pandemic, trainings will be offered virtually.

Safety Assessment and Intervention (SAI) teaches multi-disciplinary school teams how to identify, assess and respond to threats of violence or at-risk behavior before a tragedy takes place. These virtual workshops allow school threat assessment teams to brainstorm and process how to handle in-school and virtual safety circumstances related to remote education. Breakout rooms, polls and other e-learning features will create an engaging virtual workspace so participants can experience the similar benefits to an in-person training.

Districts interested in participating in an upcoming training should visit the Ohio Department of Education’s Threat Assessment Training webpage. Additional questions may be directed to the Office of Integrated Student Supports at [email protected] or 614-466-2945.
