This session is offered to support school-based teams in the process of conducting a functional behavior assessment(FBA) and developing effective behavior intervention plans (BIP). The presentation will emphasize responding to behavioral challenges within a three-tiered model of behavioral support. Participants will be provided with a specific process for the assessment of behavior as well as strategies for information gathering and documentation. Steps for translating assessment results into an effective behavior intervention plan will be discussed. Components of effective behavior plans will be provided as well as tips for implementation and monitoring of the plan. All are welcome to attend, however, the FBA/BIP process is a collaborative, team-based process, so team-based attendance is encouraged.
