Literacy is fundamental to learning. The ultimate goal of literacy instruction is to build a student's comprehension, writing skills, and overall skills in communication. It is about learning to use reading and writing in real and important ways.
There may be no greater purpose for an education system than to provide all learners with effective evidence-based instruction to build language and literacy knowledge and skills so they can enjoy full lives of learning and success. (Ohio’s Plan To Raise Literacy Achievement, 2020)
The State Support Team for Region 11 is committed to improving literacy outcomes for all learners by building the capacity of districts:
• to promote effective leadership practices and systems for developing and expanding literacy
• to support evidence-based language and literacy instruction and intervention for all students PreK-12
• to inform best practices for literacy data analysis
